In analyzing the two main characters of Oroonoko and Wuthering Heights, both Oroonoko and Heathcliff suffered as a result of separation from their lovers, which affected their growth throughout the novel. These two characters and their experiences combined with the time periods and places in which they are written to prove that alienation is a universal theme that affects the human spirit timelessly.
