To the Chinese population, the ideology behind Communism was perfect and ideal, but the way it was instated by Mao ultimately did not satisfy the needs of the suffering country. Overall, Wild Swans details the struggles of the country of China through the perspectives of these three women, as the author tells of their heroic deeds and their triumph over countless obstacles.
