Teens and Drugs
In 2003 we lost 48 children to drugs in a four-county area, 32 in Harrison County alone. Because of this epidemic, our local paper wrote several articles trying to address the issue of teens and drugs. The articles I read that Sunday morning focused on actions taken by our local school leaders, comments made by the local sheriff, and stories of families who lost their children. another. We as involved parents sometimes feel there is nowhere to turn. We talk, we listen, we try to get others involved, we put them in rehab, and it is still not enough. What is it about the love of drugs that far exceeds the love of a parent? I can only hope and pray that one-day there will be something that will help solve this issue and before my own son becomes a statistic.
