Montag is a hardened criminal, and whatever steps he did take were clumsy, ill-planned, and fell apart easily.
Hero is far too broad a term to describe anyone. No human can truly be a hero; we are all with our faults and sins. From Montag to Faber, everyone had their truly great moments, and others had terrible downfalls. There was no hero here, and I challenge anyone who truly understands the book to name one.
